about me...

My name is Esta-Jane Mace. I am 23 years old and currently working forJaguar Land Rover having just completed the Advanced Apprenticeship Programme where I completed various engineering qualifications including a foundation degree in engineering. I am now continuing my studying to further my Foundation Degree to a BSc Engineering (Hons).

I currently live in Birmingham after having moved here from Devon to undertake this job. In January 2009 I was a finalist in the Coventry Apprentice of the Year Awards, losing the winning spot by just 1 point, and as this was so close, I was presented with a Highly Commended Award - which has never been done before nor since! However, as the winner of the award was from another company, that made me the Jaguar Land Rover Apprentice of the Year and thats far more important!

Later on, I was then entered into the LSC Apprentice Awards 2009, and my application was successful, getting an invite to the formal Regional Final Dinner and Awards in June 2009. Sadly once again I was just pipped at the post, but went away very happily with another Highly Commended Award and Regional winner!

My love for Jaguars was most definitely passed on to me by my Jag mad Mother (and although he would never admit it, my Jag mad Father as well!). Having been bought up with Jaguars somewhere along our family drive, I have always wanted to own one as soon as I could get the money together.

My most favourite of the Jaguar models is the XJR-s, and one day I hope to own a late 6l V12 model. Currently I am driving a lovely X-Type after suffering reliability problems with my previous project, the XJS. Before the XJS I was lucky enough to be given a project-Jaguar. I have had her since then and lovingly restored her from being SORN'd, un-MOT'd and confined to a garage. She became my daily drive since passing her MOT first time in February 2009 after a lot of hard work, and she has been continually improved since then. All her information can be read in my blog.

In July 2010 I bought an XJS, not the R as I would not be able to insure that and run that everyday, and having had over a year and a half with the great 4.0l AJ6 in my XJ40, I decided to stick with that engine. Sadly this meant I had to move my XJ40 on, as I could not keep two vehicles, but I felt it had been such a learning curve and she was such a great Jaguar. Unfortunately only 6 months further down the line, and after spending a LOT of money, I came to the end of my tether with the XJS, failing to be as reliable as my XJ40, I needed a car I could rely on to get to work, and sadly in December 2010 I finally gave in after making myself ill working on him, and sold the poor XJS to another enthusiast.

In the mean time, my reliable little X-Type is giving me the chance to save up my spare pennies and buy a house with a big garage which can store all my projects :)

I hope you enjoy your visit...
